Following successful meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, officials of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and high-ranking members of the UAE’s Local Organising Committee, have confirmed that tickets for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 will go on sale Monday 30 July 2018.
In the build-up to one of the most eagerly-anticipated spectacles for football fans around the continent, AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John, joined Aref Al Awani, AFC Asian Cup 2019 UAE Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee at the AFC House in the Malaysian capital, where they presented a giant replica ticket to showcase the biggest sporting event ever hosted in the UAE.
The LOC officials were in Kuala Lumpur to update the AFC on preparations and operational readiness for the tournament, including upgrades and refurbishments to all eight stadium venues, as the UAE gets set to welcome fans from across Asia and the rest of the world from January 5 to February 1, 2019. Beyond ticketing, special attention fell upon the LOC’s exceptional welcoming efforts aimed at enticing fans and teams from Asia’s top 24 footballing nations—an unprecedented number of participating nations for the tournament’s long history.
The LOC has significantly enhanced their fan engagement activities and earlier this month embarked on a campaign to nurture budding local talents through unique platforms involving the most thrilling football tournament in Asia.
Working with schools, colleges, universities and football academies, the Playmakers and Home Team programmes have been well-received and continue to build on positive momentum. The upcoming Interactive Roadshow, schools programme and extensive volunteer initiative will further strengthen the LOC’s efforts to excite and engage with communities across the UAE and the rest of Asia.
“The general public ticket sales launch is an important milestone in the ongoing preparations for what is expected to be an exceptional and impressive tournament in 2019,” Al Awani said. The planning and development meetings in Kuala Lumpar with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) proved positive and the LOC received great praise on all our preparatory work.
“The recent developments reflect both the leadership and dedication of the Higher Local Organising Committee led by HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Sports Council President and the Executive Office under the chairmanship of His Excellency Major General Mohammed Khalfan Al Romaithi, Vice Chairman of the Higher Local Organising Committee. The Higher Committee of the LOC is committed to providing affordable tickets to ensure accessibility for all fans, full capacity match attendance across all stadiums and to unite diverse communities ”
Al Awani also welcomed Asian fans to the UAE, adding that multi-cultural communities across the UAE should book their tickets in advance and interact with the various country wide Fan Engagement initiatives the LOC is launching over the next few months.
The AFC has also praised the ongoing intensive preparations for hosting the tournament and reaching advanced progress. This serves as a testament to the Local Organising Committee’s passion to execute the tournament in the most exceptional manner, in alignment with the UAE’s standards and global reputation.
“The UAE has a proven track record of delivering world class sporting events at the highest level and we have been impressed with the progress made by the UAE Local Organising Committee as we enter the final preparations for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019,” AFC General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John said.
“The AFC, along with the LOC are fully committed to provide the ultimate stage for showcasing the undeniable talent in Asia. I am confident that by “Bringing Asia Together”, our teams, players and ultimately our passionate fans will enjoy the tournament of a lifetime.”
