Hazza bin Zayed Stadium awaits Al Jazira’s Club World Cup bow

Coach Henk Ten Cate says his team will be representing the UAE

As Al Jazira prepare for one of the highest profile matches in their history, coach Henk Ten Cate has called on fans from across the UAE to get behind “the Pride of Abu Dhabi” as they represent the whole nation..

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the club, players and for the UAE,” said Ten Cate. “We aim to make everyone proud of the team. We hope to have a lot of support, not only from Al Jazira fans, but from every football fan in the country. We are not only playing for Al Jazira but for the UAE so we would love to see fans come down to this big game.”

Local fans will look to Al Jazira’s star striker Ali Mabkhout to lift his team. The goal-machine could prove to be instrumental to his side’s quest to progress to the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 quarter-finals. Joining Mabkhout on the pitch is Brazilian striker and FIFA Club World Cup winner, Romarinho, who is confident that Al Jazira can kick-off the tournament on a winning note.

“The team is ready and there is no reason as to why we shouldn’t progress to the second round,” said Romarinho. “I believe that Al Jazira can put on a great performance tonight and beat Auckland City. Nothing is impossible in this tournament.” 

In the next 10 days the UAE capital will welcome some of the world’s most talented football players as they take to the pitch to play eight pivotal matches. Joining Al Jazira and Auckland City FC at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 are the most decorated side in European football, the iconic all-whites of Real Madrid and their superstar-strewn squad including the recently crowned FIFA Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo. Real will join CONCACAF Champions League winners, CF Pachuca from Mexico, who will face Wydad Athletic Club on Saturday, December 9, at 17:00 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Sports City Stadium. The winners of this match will go on to play CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores champions, Gremio in the first semi-final on Thursday, December 12, in Al Ain.

“We are delighted to welcome seven continental champions to the UAE for what will be a marvellous celebration of football,”  said Aref Al Awani, Tournament Director of the LOC. “Each team has a significant role to play in the tournament and we wish each and every team and player the best of luck for their matches ahead.”

All You Need To Know

Supporters travelling to games can arrive via a range of public and private transport options, with park and ride facilities available for those arriving by car. Those fans who arrive in Al Ain without match tickets can head to the box office at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, which will be operating daily between 14:00 – 22:00 until 12 December. Fans attending games at Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi are able to collect tickets from the box office between 14:00 – 22:00 from 5 to 16 December.

When accessing the stadium’s, fans are advised that gates A and B will be open at both Zayed Sports City and Hazza bin Zayed stadiums three hours prior to kick-off.

As the atmosphere builds outside the stadium, fans are being encouraged to participate in the various activations being hosted by FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 partners adidas and Alibaba Cloud. adidas’ Predator Zone will feature a cage where football fanatics can showcase their skills ahead of the game. The Zone pays homage to the Predator 18+, a reinvented icon that is currently being worn by Paul Pogba, Dele Alli, Ivan Rakitic and more. The Alibaba Cloud Striker Zone will test all the core skills of the modern-day football striker including; power, speed and precision. Participants will go head-to-head with two other fans, with the winner taking to the Alibaba Cloud  podium to collect their tournament prizes.

The FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 will host the Fan Village at each stadium, open three hours prior to kick-off on match days, which consists of seven fun zones that suit all age groups, featuring football games and virtual activities of the popular FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 Mobile Roadshow, which has been touring the UAE in the lead up to the tournament and has seen thousands of participants go head to head, with many testing their skills and trying to beat the scores of FIFA legends Eric Abidal, Ivan Córdoba, Mikael Silvestre, Dwight Yorke and Al Jazira first-team stars. The Fan Village will also give supporters the unique chance to take selfies with their team’s respective continental trophy.

When arriving inside the stadium, spectators are advised that food and drink purchased outside the stadium is not authorized to be brought past the gates. Fans will however find a range of food concessions inside each stadium.

Football lovers looking to get their hands on official FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 merchandise will be able to do so from one of several merchandise stalls that will be selling a range of products including; t-shirts, caps, key chains and official mascot replica’s. Fans are advised to bring cash to matches as there is limited ATM access around stadiums.

With the tournament just 24 hours away and tickets still available, fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets as soon as possible and get behind their respective teams that represent six continents, supporting them in their FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017 journey.
