Arsene Wenger lost an FA Cup third-round tie for the first time as holders Arsenal were stunned 4-2 by Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The Frenchman had picked a second string team as he chose to rest the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lcazette and Mesut Ozil, none of whom even made the bench.
Wenger has lifted the famous trophy on a record seven occasions, including three of the last four years, but saw his team, undone by two Eric Lichaj goals along with penalties from Ben Brereton and Kieran Dowell in a classic cup tie at the City Ground.
Wenger’s mood would not have been helped by the manner the second of the spotkick was scored in the dying minutes of the match, the taker appearing to touch the ball twice as he slipped.
It is the latest in a series of penalty decisions that have gone against Arsenal in recent weeks.
